Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy?
Therapy is a treatment for psychological problems in which therapists and clients work together to understand problems and come up with plans for fixing them, generally by changing ineffective thoughts, emotions or behaviors.

How can therapy help?

Therapy can help address many types of concerns including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress, and various life changes, transitions, and stressors.  Therapy offers a supportive, safe, and confidential space to explore and gain insight into who you are and who you would like to become.

What is therapy like?

Therapy involves you getting to spend the next 45 minutes or longer with a trusted mental health provider who provides nonjudgmental and unbiased support.  For some, it is the one time you get to talk about you and what’s important to you!

Therapy also involves the use of different modalities (commonly referred to as interventions) to help you address some of your concerns.  These modalities may include sandtray, Brainspotting, EMDR (eye movement, desensitization, reprocessing), or other interventions.  The most important thing to remember about therapy is that it is what you make it to be.

Please check out the resource page to learn more about the different therapy modalities.

What insurance and payments do you accept?

I accept certain plans with Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care. If you choose to work with me, there is a possibility that I may be out of network with your insurance company.

If you do not see your insurance listed above, it does not mean we cannot work together. There is a possibility that you have out of network benefits. It is your responsibility to verify your benefits and your out-of-network plan.

I can work with you on providing documents for you to submit to your insurance company for a claim.  Some individuals may also choose to pay out-of-pocket for services to maintain privacy and avoid the restrictions that insurance companies impose on the types of treatment you can receive, your diagnosis, duration of therapy services or amount of sessions.

I accept Visa and MasterCard credit/debit cards, and HSA/FSA.  Personal checks, money orders, Paypal, Zelle, Venmo, and Cashapp are not accepted.  All payments must be made before the start of each session unless prior arrangements have been made.

What is your Fee Schedule for Counseling Services?

The cost for services may vary based on insurance, including copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. As of July 2021, my fee schedule is:

  • Diagnostic Assessment/Evaluation (80 minutes) – $165
  • Individual Counseling Session (45 min.) – $115
  • Individual/Family Counseling Session (53+ min.) – $125
  • Court Appearance and Preparation – $250/hour
  • Administrative (meetings, record retrieval, reports, phone calls, etc.)- $125/hour

Do you have a sliding scale or reduced fee?

I offer a limited amount of sliding scale or reduced fee sessions to individuals who qualify through Open Path Collective.  Having access to affordable mental healthcare is important to me and I want you to get the services you need.

What is the cancellation policy?

Your healing journey is based on the consistency and time you invest. Your appointment time is saved specifically for you.  Therefore, appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.  If an appointment is cancelled on the same day or with less than 24 hours notice, there will be a $75 cancellation charge. Appointments in which you do not call to cancel or show for are charged at the full rate.  Cancellations may be made via email or phone.

How can you help me plan a program?

All programs start with an idea.  In my experience with program planning, I have learned that these ideas have great intentions, however, an organization may have a similar program which can make competition for funding difficult and scarce.  Conducting a landscape analysis, community asset inventory or needs assessment can help you determine the feasibility of your program.  The results will be delivered to you with a program plan or recommendation to further help you achieve your goals.

Program implementation puts your plan into action. If you are ready to start a program and need help with implementation then Introspective Solutions can provide support through project management and development of logic models, workflows, policies and procedures, quality measures and more.

Why do I need to evaluate my program?

Program evaluation helps answer questions about impact, processes, outcomes, operations and satisfaction.  Program evaluation can help determine the impact your program is having and if it is meeting its intended purpose.  Program evaluation is often useful in securing future funding as well as opportunities to expand or change specific parts of the program.

How does analyzing data help my program?

In today’s technological world, data is used more and more to inform business decisions. Non-profits and other social service agencies are behind in using technology to guide strategic planning that drives revenue, shows results, and align with their mission and vision. Organizations that do collect data generally collect descriptive data (i.e. demographics, number of people served, etc.). Introspective Solutions uses statistical software to cross-analyze data, understand impact, and measure outcomes. Introspective Solutions can use existing records or develop customized forms including surveys to capture data to enhance service delivery in your organization.
